What's the word?
Monday, February 13, 2012 at 05:40AM I had the honor of following two lovely friends across the Brooklyn Bridge and right into the marriage bureau. (Which, by the way, happens to be a real visual candy box for photographers. Note to self: RETURN TO SHOOT.)
According to The Beatles, the Word is love.

I photographed this woman at a recent Occupy Wall Street protest. Who says this movement isn't diverse?
Working Tobacco Road

The outskirts of North Carolina's cities are dotted by isolated migrant worker camps. This summer I traveled down south to document the lives of the men who pick our tobacco, cucumbers, strawberries and tomatoes. The project isn't complete--but here's a few selects.

World AIDS Day Post: Looking at "Scarred by Stigma"
Monday, November 28, 2011 at 11:24AM
Since World AIDS Day is Dec. 1, I wanted to repost the images of a few Mississippians I met this year. Living in New York, I tend to think that AIDS stigma is a prejudice of the past. When I visited a few burgeoning AIDS activists in March, however, I learned that many HIV-positive people in the South are still consistently rejected by their families, friends and neighbors. I had some pretty powerful conversations with Victoria (above) and Earnest, David and Jackie (below), all of whom were brave enough to allow me to photograph them. This project was published by HIV Plus Magazine and featured on the Human Rights Watch web site.

Occupy Wall Street on BagNewsNotes.com
Monday, November 28, 2011 at 12:13AM
I've been fascinated by Occupy Wall Street since September. On Thanksgiving, the photojourno site BagNewsNotes.com ran this photo, taken back in October during an unexpected snowstorm. At the time, the sight of protesters out in the snow was a real sign that they might make it through the winter. Now that Bloomberg has managed to kick most of them out of the park in NYC, I think we're all wondering, what's next?

Finally. Welcome to my new space.

In the past two years or so my work and personal travels have taken me to Argentina, Austria, Guatemala, Haiti, Mississippi, Missouri, Detroit, North Carolina, Honduras and New Orleans. I've also spent a good deal of time exploring my new city, New York, trolling through Chinatown with my camera and hanging with Occupiers down at Zuccotti Park. I've been so caught up writing and taking pictures, though, that I haven't had a chance to create a new space for my work. So here it is, a new site. The best part? This blog, which will allow me to post news and photos whenever I like. Enjoy!
